Workplace for Business Strategy Execution (WBSE): Managing by Exception (2004)

Workplace for Business Strategy Execution (WBSE): Managing by Exception (2004)

WBSE is a web application that enabled corporations to align the entire organization on their corporate strategic objectives. A key component was this map that dynamically draws related, business objectives via animation.  Through this visualization, it's quick and easy for the Executive user to determine if they are on track to meet their corporate strategic objectives or if there are problems that require immediate attention.  This application was a huge success, generating tremendous revenue and resulted in the creation of a new category of products.

Managing by exception, this map displays the culprit of the yellow status allowing the user to take immediate action to get their employee back on track, aligned and returned to a green status.

Workplace for Business Strategy and Execution (2004)

As a product design principal, I led a multidisciplinary team of UX designers, visual designers, usability engineers, user researchers, technical writers and project managers to design and develop a new web application built on top of WebSphere Portal.  Drove design from product concept to implementation by working with executives, architect, development, marketing and management.

WBSE: Targets and Milestones Wizard (2004)

WBSE: Targets and Milestones Wizard (2004)

This wizard helped novice users get started in setting their objectives, targets and thresholds. This work resulted in a US Patent for Graphically Manipulating a Database.  As points (targets, thresholds) are moved on the chart, the values in the database are dynamically updated (vs. updating the data in the backend).

WBSE: Alternate Scorecard (2004)

WBSE: Alternate Scorecard (2004)

Users were provided with an alternate scorecard design.  This visualization allowed the user to manage their business by exception and at a glance.

Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting (WBCR, 2005)

Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting (WBCR, 2005)

The WBCR application enabled corporations to document, assess and monitor their internal business controls framework in order to maintain SOX (Sarbanes - Oxley Act) compliance.  This was a friendly, Getting Started page.

Workplace for Business Controls and Reporting (2005)

Having a knack for solving complex design problems, this project was re-assigned to my team after the first team was unable to deliver a usable design solution. I led my team of product designers, visual designers, human factors engineers, software engineers and information developers (technical writers) to successfully deliver an implemented design solution in record time.

Notes 8: Visual Language and Iconography (2008)

Notes 8: Visual Language and Iconography (2008)

Directed design and development of visual language and iconography for this enterprise mail application and its "sister" products. Worked with internal design teams, external design agency, usability engineers and legal team to deliver set of 900+ approved icons on schedule.  The external agency attributed the process I developed and my project management skills to its success referring me to as the "Best Designer and Project Manager" they had ever worked with.

The information was displayed in a sliding drawer, so it was there when the user needed it and gone when they didn’t.

SOA Technical Demo (2007)

SOA Technical Demo (2007)

This multi-million dollar proof of concept utilized live, working code and mainframe systems to demonstrate the sophisticated technical capabilities of Systems Oriented Architecture.
